Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot tries to solve murder aboard a boat in Egypt. A really wonderful movie. Precisely directed, beautifully shot, and superbly acting. The story is typical Christie with all the reveals at the end so some slower parts earlier, but even those were always exquisitely done. The introductions of so many characters sometimes leaves the viewer confused or requires a lot of exposition, but not here. Kenneth Branagh directed and plays a Poirot that might be a little too soft for some aficionados, but I felt that he pulled the curtain back on the inner Poirot that we don’t see in other versions. Branagh was great (Academy Award performance if you ask me) and he got the best out of his fellow actors, even Russel Brand and Gal Gadot who are typically mediocre. So if you want a movie with good direction, cinematography and acting with the only negative being a sometimes slow plot, then go see it at the theater to enjoy the visuals. 8 out of 10 stars.
